Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, the woman that many Bernie fans have hated since the beginning of election season, officially resigned as the Chair of the Democratic National Committee on Sunday after leaked emails revealed her (and the entire committee’s) bias towards Hillary and their campaign against Bernie.

Just hours after her resignation, Hillary hired the former-party leader to be an honorary chairman of the campaign’s new “50-state” program.

The email scandal that left Wasserman unemployed for a few hours was the backlash following 20,000 leaked emails on WikiLeaks between staffers of the DNC that showed a clear bias towards Hillary.

Despite rules set in place that say the DNC, especially the chair, must remain impartial, Debbie has proven to be biased towards Hillary since the beginning. She has been accused of this, especially by Bernie supporters, for many different reasons, including scheduling the debates during terrible time slots with few viewers and not firing the finance chair when he was caught raising funds for Hillary.

Wasserman also used to be the co-chair of Hillary Clinton’s 2008 campaign before she was appointed chair of the DNC.

In an official statement announcing Debbie’s new job with Hillary’s campaign, the Democratic nominee said,

“There’s simply no one better at taking the fight to the Republicans than Debbie–which is why I am glad that she has agreed to serve as honorary chair of my campaign’s 50-state program to gain ground and elect Democrats in every part of the country, and will continue to serve as a surrogate for my campaign nationally, in Florida, and in other key states.”

Clinton made no mention of the email scandal, and neither did President Obama or Vice President Biden when they made statements regarding her resignation. Obama even spoke with Wasserman on the phone before she announced her resignation, as she attempted to fight this inevitable end.

Not only do these emails prove the party’s bias, despite months of denying it, but it exposes the Democratic party’s weaknesses as well. Trump has already taken advantage of the situation by stating that the party is divided and facing inner turmoil.

Bernie Sanders addressed the scandal before Wasserman’s resignation and demanded that action be taken. He said,

“Debbie Wasserman Schultz has made the right decision for the future of the Democratic Party. While she deserves thanks for her years of service, the party now needs new leadership that will open the doors of the party and welcome in working people and young people. The party leadership must also always remain impartial in the presidential nominating process, something which did not occur in the 2016 race.”

He is absolutely correct in saying so, whether you’re a fan of Sanders’ politics or not.

Wasserman’s resignation will go into effect as soon as the Democratic National Convention, where she will deliver a speech, is wrapped up, and in the meantime, Donna Brazile will serve as Chair in the interim. Brazile is involved in the scandal as well, going so far as to say, “I will cuss out the Sanders camp!” in one of the emails.
