Those committing the theft can seriously harm someone’s credit score and hurt their chances of buying a home or financing anything they purchase, impact their social security, and hurt their job prospects.
One first step at stealing someone’s identity is to steal the purchasing power information from one of their debit cards so that it can be used until the person realizes it’s stolen or to open other cards or accounts in their name.
