Celebrating the holidays without family can be a tough ordeal. Fortunately for Ben Millar, his girlfriend, and their soon-to-be-born baby, all three will be able to fly to visit Ben’s family in Ireland in upcoming months.
GoodNewsNetwork relays that Millar – who works as a waiter in a restaurant in Houston, Texas – was talking to a patron he was serving when conversation was struck up about the Emerald Isle. Reportedly, the dining guest, named Jeffrey, recently visited Ireland to see the rock-and-roll band U2.
When Ben remarked that he’s from Belfast and would love to go visit his family but lacks the money, he thought that was the end of the conversation. Jeffrey, however, had something else in mind…
After Ben returned to clear the table, he saw that the generous diner had left a $750 tip with a note that read “Hopefully, this can get you back to Ireland for the holidays”. Jeffrey had left before Ben could thank him, but word of the good deed has gone viral.
According to Taryn Keith, Ben’s girlfriend, the kind contribution couldn’t have gone to a better, more hardworking guy. When Taryn gives birth to their son (expected delivery date is January 20th) and both are well enough to fly, the trio intend to visit Ben’s family in Ireland.
Though many negative happenings continue to take place in the world, plenty of positive ones do, as well. Perhaps this positive news will inspire you to believe in the goodness of humanity.
