It’s not common for younger women to marry older men, or vice versa actually. But what is uncommon is to be kidnapped by your boyfriend whose 8 years older, then attempt to elope while still attending high school. And yet, while it’s highly unconventional for a couple in their kind of situation to succeed, they managed to not only get married, but they would also go on to have 13 children all the way into their late 40’s and 50’s. From what their families could tell, they were happy, in love and doing very well for themselves.
But what looked like a picture perfect family to the outside world was really quite far from the truth.
David Turpin
David Allen Turpin was born on October 17, 1961, in West Virginia’s Mercer County. According to his parents, he was a bright child, graduating from Princeton High School in 1979. According to his school yearbook, he was set to be ‘the treasurer of the Bible Club, co-captain of the Chess Club, and a member of the Science Club and Acapella Choir.’ He eventually went on to complete his college degree from Virginia Tech in Computer Engineering.
