The Volkswagen Microbus is a classic – even to those of us born after its time. Arguably unlike the newly remade Beetle, this remake of a VW classic is remarkably true to the original on the outside – but on the inside it is a bio-diesel hybrid stuffed full of high tech gadgetry and eco-friendly innovations.

Named after its designer, the Verdier is not bogged down by its sustainability – it is a turbo-charged, solar-powered, GPS-enabled contemporary car with all the retro elegance of its predecessor plus even more space-manipulating tricks to make it a highly compact mobile home.

The roof pops up, two awnings pop out the sides, a fridge and freezer reside within alongside a home entertainment center and a table and stove set are built right into one of the doors. The hippie heritage of this ride combined with its restyling, added gadgetry and new technology should make it a hit.

where would a person get one of these? Are they new and come off the line like this or are they retro-fitted? Thanks!

I love the van!! Is there any dealers in AZ where I could look and drive one? Could you provide the names of dealers that are selling this van that are in close proximity to AZ.
Thank you so much.

Nicely done digital work, from at least 2007.
That's how far back I had to go on the Wayback Machine to find this:

http://web.archive.org/web/20070116134302/http://www.verdier.ca/

Unfortunately, Alexandre Verdier's website has been inactive for some time:
hhtp://www.verdier.ca

So, it seems you'll just have to build your own. :-(
Since someone asked, this one is/ would be front wheel drive.

I don't understand where the engine is. It doesn't appear to have enough space.
Also looks very expensive.

We had one of those in the 70s (plain van, not suped up), the engine is in a big box in between the two front seats.

It takes over half a million litres of fresh water to make one brand new car. There is nothing activist about this - it's consumerist western bollocks, just like the wak rhetoric all over this web site.

I was the proud owner of one way back in the 60's . I drove it to the corners of the east coast and back . Are there any dealers stocked with this particular model in the Houston,Texas area? price cant be TOO expensive.
