These adorable photos make it hard not to fall in love with these dogs.
A huge amount of effort goes into finding forever homes for animals up for adoption, and one of the components that makes up that effort is taking photos of the animals to capture the attention of possible families.
A low-quality photo of a sad-looking dog and a high-quality photo of a photogenic dog can make all the difference when potential parents are searching for a companion, and that’s something that Richard Phibbs recognized three years ago.
Phibbs is a fashion photographer and director living in New York City, where he volunteers his time at the Humane Society of New York to capture beautiful portraits of dogs without homes. He combined his love for animals with his photography skills to take these photos and increase the chances of these dogs being adopted. He also recently published a book that featured some of these stories, which included the story of how they came to be homeless and their happy ever after with their new family.
He’s not the only photographer donating his time to help animals in need, nor is he the only one in New York City alone, but every bit of contribution counts when it comes to rescuing. As the saying goes, perhaps saving one animal won’t change the world, but it’ll change the world for that one animal.
That is certainly what these dogs experience when they find new homes that won’t abandon or harm them like those of their past, and Phibbs is just happy to be a part of that crucial process of rehoming them. See below to take a glimpse at the beautiful portraits Phibbs creates for these homeless dogs.
