12. Blurry Vision

One of the most disturbing symptoms of diabetes is blurred eyesight. When blood glucose is elevated and uncontrolled, the sugar begins to accumulate in the eyes, causing increased pressure. This increased pressure may change the shape of the eye, affecting the ability of it to focus. Blood vessels are also affected by the high sugar level in the blood, ultimately affecting supply of nutrients to the organ’s nerves, making for blurry vision. Once blood sugar levels are corrected, it is possible for a person to regain clear vision, usually after a few months, as this is a temporary effect of diabetes.
