In early 2016, James Ross-Munroe and Kane Wiblen of Australia were hanging out in a gas station parking lot after a long night of drinking. As the video below shows, James was trying to fix his broken flip-flop (a “busted plugger,” as he put it) when a car sped up to the gas station and two men with their covered faces jumped out. As the men headed into the gas station, James felt it was his duty to investigate the scene, so Kane followed.

Mere seconds passed before the duo realized they were witnessing a robbery. So, James — who at this point was barefoot — walked up to the car, grabbed the keys and tossed them down a grate. He continued to cuss and walk around the vehicle when the two suspects ran out of the store and attempted to drive off.

Fortunately, neither James nor Kane was injured in the ordeal. The drunk buddies even ran — and stumbled — after the suspects.

According to GoodNewsNetwork, the inebriated friends never caught up with the bandits. However, the entire episode was captured with Kane’s cell phone. And, the shaky, profanity-laced video has been viewed millions of times.

After the video went viral, the heroes appeared on Nine Network’s Today show and left the hosts rolling with laughter. One asked James if working out gave him the confidence to pursue the criminals. James responded,

“The only gym I go to is Jim Beam,” with a nod to the Kentucky whiskey.

For his heroism, James received offers of new flip-flops to replace his busted pluggers.
