Kind Samaritan Helps Owners Reunite With Their Lost Pets For Free, Using A Thermal Imaging Drone

Erica Hart, an incredible pet detective, has undertaken a selfless mission to reunite lost dogs with their owners, utilizing the aid of a thermal imaging drone.

With no expectation of financial compensation, she has successfully facilitated the reunion of 330 lost canines with their families, finding fulfillment solely in the joy of these heartwarming reunions.

44-year-old Erica’s journey into pet detection began unexpectedly in April 2018 when her father gifted her a drone. Little did she know, this seemingly ordinary present would spark a passion and purpose in her life. Following some practice flights, her father mentioned a missing dog in their local area and suggested utilizing the drone to aid in the search.

Taking up the challenge, Erika reached out to the distraught owner of the missing schnauzer, promptly deploying her drone to assist in the search. To everyone’s relief, including Erica’s the dog was successfully located and reunited with its grateful owner.


News of Erica’s successful rescue quickly spread, leading to an influx of requests for her assistance. From that point forward, she became a beacon of hope for pet owners across the UK, embarking on hundreds of dog rescue missions with her trusty drone.

Her reputation as an invaluable asset in the search for lost pets spread, and basically “snowballed” from there. From Scotland to Somerset I the UK, Erica has been one of the firsts names that comes up when people need to search for their lost dogs.

“I don’t just help find dogs though, I have found, cats, emus, cows and helped mountain rescue locate missing people. It is in my nature to help out,” said Erica.

“I do everything for the love of dogs. Imagine not seeing your mum for 10 years and then seeing her all of a sudden—it is that feeling.”

Despite her impressive track record, and the fact that she’s probably gone through 30 drones since she first began, Erica remains humble. She says that it’s the human element of the work that’s most important to her and the joy she has seeing dog and owner reconnect.


She shares, “I have seen large, 6-foot men burst into tears; it is priceless to see their faces. Some people can’t have kids so they will get a dog, they are comfort for some people.”

Moreover, Erica’s dedication to her calling knows no bounds, making herself available seven days a week, even on holidays like Christmas and New Year’s Day.

She even recalls her longest rescue mission, which lasted a staggering 12 days, a testament to her unwavering commitment to the cause. While the duration of each rescue operation varies, but depends on factors such as the animal’s behavior and response to being lost.
