Most kids have a routine before school that keeps them occupied, such as brushing their teeth, eating breakfast, and finishing homework from the night before. But for a compassionate ten-year-old, feeding a blind deer has been on his to-do list.
For one week, the kind-hearted boy took it upon himself to help the blind deer find a number of nearby grass patches to ensure it had enough to eat.
According to a Reddit thread started by the young boy’s neighbor, a user named blucollarclassicist, the thoughtful youngster would take the time each morning to lead the deer to edible food. Shortly after the photo was snapped and shared, they contacted a local rescue group to see if they could step in to give the deer proper care.
“He showed a lot of love and respect and my wife and I are going to talk to his mom about a way she would want to see his act of kindness rewarded,” wrote bluecollarclassicist on Reddit, after the deer was safely picked up and brought to a wildlife preserve.
While it is, of course, difficult to say goodbye to an animal friend, the young man is just pleased the deer is being taken care of. It turns out a number of individuals in the community have been stepping in to help lead the animal away from the road, but the sweet boy was one of the helpers who drew the most attention.
Said the young boy’s neighbors: “We are going to frame this photo for them and offer to take him to the local wildlife preserve whenever he wants to go.”
