Coconut Oil Hailed as ‘Miracle’ Dental Breakthrough

Coconut Oil Hailed as ‘Miracle’ Dental Breakthrough, Deadly Bacteria Killer Anthony Gucciardi
Activist Post

Looking for an alternative to toothpastes loaded with sulfates and other toxic ingredients such as fluoride? Mainstream science has now fully recognized the ‘miracle’ powers of coconut oil to not only combat tooth decay and drastically improve overall mouth health, but also to specifically crush a yeast known as candida albicans that can lead to deadly infections. This ‘news’ likely comes as nothing more than further confirmation for many, as natural health practicioners have been recommending coconut oil for years.

The research comes from the Athlone Institute of Technology, where Ireland-based scientists examined the effects of natural and digested coconut oil on common strains of bacteria within the mouth. What they found was that not only did the coconut oil effectively inhibit a majority of the bacteria strains single-handedly, but it was also particularly harmful to candida albicans. This is important when considering the fact that an excessive amount of the yeast known as candida albicans can be brought upon by a poor diet consisting of processed foods and sugar.

Candida infection, also known as candida overgrowth or the ‘candy disease’, can be associated with symptoms like chronic tiredness, recurring yeast infections, and digestive issues. It can also lead to a mouth infection known as thrush — a condition typically ‘treated’ using anti-fungal medications preceeded by an x-ray of your esophagus. Now, researchers are highlighting how coconut oil intake can be an alternative solution with far less side effects and concerns.

In their report, the scientists state that coconut oil could be ‘an effective alternative to chemical additives’ in most dental hygiene products. This refers to the many sulfate chemicals linked to numerous conditions, added fluoride, and many others.

It is important to ensure that you purchase the right kind of high quality coconut oil when purchasing it online or from your local supermarket. An important consideration is that the scientists conducting the study may have actually used an inferior low quality coconut oil, meaning that the results may have actually been even more positive if they were to use a 100% organic, extra virgin source. As a general rule of thumb, just as with vitamins and other supplements, avoid purchasing a generic brand of non-organic coconut oil from your local chain market.

Instead, look for a USDA certified organic or 100% organic label that is unrefined and cold-pressed. Personally, I would recommend Nutiva’s coconut oil on Vitacost for a high quality source that isn’t going to be highly expensive (I have no ties to either company). As a side note, coconut oil is also great to store as a preparedness food as it has a very long shelf life and is packed full of nutrients.

You’re supposed to be skeptical. Though they are indeed promising, and point to health benefits, and applications, the study results were specifically from enzyme-modified coconut oil.

So, unless you’re regurgitating it or your saliva has special enzymes no one else’s does, you won’t get the effect reported.

The author of this article misread the study.

    hey look, it’s an advertisement!

seriously I just read the study, it is not coconut oil they used, its an enzyme blend, that was stabilised inside coconut oil. true activist perhaps so editorial duties are in order, because this is blatant advertising and reeks of the for profit/ twist science to suit our agendas attitude of the main stream media you are trying to to provide an alternative to.
in the words of Tim Minchin:

    ““Alternative Medicine”, I continue
“Has either not been proved to work,
Or been proved not to work.
You know what they call “alternative medicine”
    That’s been proved to work?

25$-37$ a jar for coconut oil, is extortion or stupidity tax,
    good luck everyone!

You’re supposed to oil-pull it, which means spitting it out when you’re done to get id of the toxins…coconut oil is the bomb-diggity in so many ways other than the ones discussed here. And I am not advertising ;)

I have personally struggled for years and years with chronic yeast infections. Doctors visits and prescribed medication did nothing to relieve the pain and discomfort that I was enduring but infact made it worse. I went to herbalists, specialists, almost every obgyn in my city. Nothing. I changed my diet for 6 months. I ate absolutly nothing with wheat, sugar (including fruits), dairy, starch, or anything but protein and fibrous veg. I didnt even eat carrots! Still nothing gave. At the time, I would have done ANYTHING to cure my candida. I was to the point where I was going to start traveling from Utah to a clinic in Texas to be treated. I stumbled across a website that made claims that coconut oil along with the diet that I was on would help. To my surprise it did in less than 1 months. I used it to prepare my meals and nothing else. I am all for coconut oil. IT IS AMAZING! Those who believe that this article is an ad for the coconut oil companies clearly have never tried it nor do they have an open mind about what is “good” for the body. Is it more expensive than vegetable oil? Yes, it defiantly is but it’s no more than olive oil. Is it better for you than vegetable oil? Hell yes! If you are interested in trying it, I buy 2 quarts of Nutivia from Costco for $20. It lasts forever and you can use it for anything! Massages, face cream, lube… Makes great fried chicken! When my candida and discomfort was gone I quit my very restrictive diet and eat normal now. It’s been a year and a half and I have had absolutly no more problems.
