Trauma in life changes a person – not only their psyche but their physical appearance too. It seems serving a term – or two – as President of the United States does, as well.

The series, shared by the Huffington Post, reveals images of ten U.S. presidents before and after they served their terms in office. It is worth noting that many in this collection served eight years in office, therefore, might appear more rugged just because they’re older. Regardless, it seems politics speeds the aging process.

Abraham Lincoln only spent four years in office, but he also led the country in one of its most tumultuous times. Barack Obama, who just turned 55, seems to have changed quite a bit since he was elected back in 2008, as well.
