What’s better than living to be 100-years-old? Living to a ripe, old age with someone you love – preferably a partner or a close relative, such as a sister. Fortunately for twin sisters Maria Pignaton Pontin and Paulina Pignaton Pandolfi of Brazil, both have survived their nineties and have been granted the fortunate opportunity to celebrate their turn as centenarians together.
The Huffington Post reports that to commemorate another year of life, the sister participated in a photo essay, shot by artist Camila Lima. The photographer told Good Housekeeping:
“I was aware of their existence and I decided to give them a present with this beautiful photographic essay. They are beautiful and very cute! I’ve never met anyone so old, especially twins. They deserve it and the rehearsal was beautiful.”
The sisters will officially turn 100 on May 24th. Paulina has six children, 19 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. In her lifetime, she has overcome cancer and two heart attacks. Maria has five children, 12 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Clearly, both have much to celebrate.
The images were captured in the city of Vitória, Brazil, where the duo are already local celebrities.
“We were all excited and they put on beautiful dresses, did their hair and came to the capital to take the pictures,” said Lima.
