Last Tuesday, a severe thunderstorm took place over Argentina’s capital of Buenos Aires. People and wildlife did their best to avoid the heavy downpour, but some, like stray dogs, didn’t have many options to stay dry. Fortunately, a few lovable pooches found a safe place to dry off when a compassionate bus driver allowed them to ride along during the storm.

The Dodo reports that the pups were frightened and shivering from the storm. So, the bus driver called to the dogs and allowed them to travel on the bus with other passengers. According to witness Stella Maris San Martin:

“They were two very scared little dogs. He never tried to put them off. He spoke to them like they were his own.”

No one knows for sure whether or not the bus driver picked up more stray dogs along the route. What is known, however, is that when the canines were in need, an anonymous bus operator offered them what he could: a place to stay safe and out of the elements until the storm passed.

A post on Facebook about the ordeal has been ‘liked’ over 22,000 times and shared over 10,000 times. Obviously, people are overjoyed by the compassionate gesture.

Even the driver’s superiors with the transportation company have praised the unnamed man’s actions. Though pets aren’t normally allowed on the buses, they’re calling what occurred a “show of solidarity.”
