Larry Hester was diagnosed with retinis pigmentosa in his early 30s when there were no known cures, and has spent the past 33 years as a blind man.
Thanks to advances in technology, Larry now has a bionic eye which contains an electronic device to send light signals to his brain.
His first words after being able to see light are: ‘Yes. Oh my goodness. Yes!’ His wife is also overjoyed, and rushes to give him a kiss in this touching moment.
Larry won´t be able to see fully, but the bionic eye is a groundbreaking invention and will at least help him to make out objects so he can distinguish between them.
