Big Pharma Lost $25 Billion After Trump Criticized The Industry

Following Trump’s public criticism against Big Pharma, the industry has since lost $25 billion. After President Trump criticized the industry in an interview with the Washington Post, where he described the drug industry as “disastrous”, a huge $25 billion was lost within the space of the 20 minutes that followed, according to recent reports. Speculations have been made that if he continues to speak out against Big Pharma, then it could jeopardize the industry’s standing within the American economy, together with commercial markets both with the US and across the world.
During a press conference, Trump said, “Our drug industry has been disastrous. They’re leaving left and right. They supply our drugs but they don’t make them here, to a large extent. And the other thing we have to do is create new bidding procedures for the drug industry because they’re getting away with murder. Pharma has a lot of lobbies, a lot of lobbyists, a lot of power.” He then went on to explain that “there’s very little bidding on drugs. We’re the largest buyer of drugs in the world, and yet we don’t bid properly. We’re going to start bidding. We’re going to save billions of dollars over a period of time.”
Reports have also claimed that Trump is the first politician in American history who has taken on Big Pharma. He has also proposed that he will lay out beneficial plans to make America much more prosperous and great again, which includes starting by making sure that the American people are healthy, to provide the economy with wealth. Owing to Big Pharma being responsible for the country’s opioid and other pharmaceutical addictions, President Trump wants to destroy the industry’s influence on America, as well as destroying its ability to profit from it.

There is a lack of real concern for the mental and physical health of Americans in society, according to reports, which is an issue that needs real focus and change if it is to improve, instead of it being seen as an issue that is unimportant and/or not a problem worth facing. Many believe that the mental health issue, and therefore the Big Pharma asset, comes from a lack of real understanding of many pharmaceutical drugs, which then in turn leads to unwanted and common addictions. Many people do not realize that they are becoming addicted to the drugs that they are taking for whatever purpose, which hugely comes from a lack of understanding of the signs to look out for so that addiction does not occur. Reports also suggest that pharmaceutical drugs are not given with the possible side effects information and addicting possibilities before the user starts taking them.
Despite Trump standing up against the pharmaceutical industry, many believe that it is also up to individual citizens to “get involved with the fight for transparency within the corrupted industry”. As increasingly more people speak out against the wrongdoings of the big pharmaceutical companies, it will then become easier for the general public to learn about the dangers of chemical additives in pharmaceutical drugs, standing up for the health of fellow citizens.
