The Vermont-based company will be offering four non-dairy creations to appeal to lactose-intolerant consumers and health-conscious foodies.
Who said you can’t love tasty, creamy ice cream and be vegan? Not the founders of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream company, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield.
In fact, the notable ice cream business recently revealed four new flavors to win over ethically-minded consumers and lactose intolerant ice cream lovers.
Reports USA Today, the Vermont-based company will soon be offering four non-dairy creations: chocolate Fudge Brownie, Chunky Monkey, Coffee Caramel Fudge and P.B. & Cookies.
The cultivation of four dairy-free flavors was a result of a 2014 Change.org petition that racked up more than 28,000 signatures. Even Cory Booker, the U.S. Senator from New Jersey, signed it.

“You dared us to go dairyless—and we did!” the company boasts. “Ben & Jerry’s Non-Dairy flavor creations are made with almond milk and so boldly loaded with chunks and swirls that you’ll get Ben & Jerry’s euphoria in every bite.”
The move is one to celebrate for a number of reasons. Not only is pasteurized dairy a very mucus-forming food – one Harvard scientists have declared is not optimal for health, dairy cows in large-scale factory farms are often treated inhumanely, as was recently reported.
If you’re concerned about the flavors of the sweet treat, folks at Huffington Post did a taste test to sample the new flavors. Overall, they were surprised at how some of the flavors were incredibly creamy despite being nondairy.
Of the Coffee Caramel Fudge, they said:
“This baffling creation tasted and felt like it was full of milk and dairy and all the creamiest creations. The coffee extract and caramel swirls balanced really well with the almond milk.”
If you’re anticipating trying out the plant-based creations, you’ll soon get your chance. The flavors are expected to hit the stores later this month.
