The solution is perfect for many families because it allows both the caregiver and the senior to have their own space while remaining connected.
Each pod includes a small kitchen, bedroom, and a bathroom all designed to comfortably home an elder individual. In the kitchen, you’ll find a microwave, small refrigerator, and a pill dispenser. Reports LittleThings, everything is conveniently located and safe to reach.
The bathrooms are handicap accessible with railing and safety features built in.
There’s also a bedroom with ample extra space for a live-in caregiver.
The MedCottages are perfectly equipped for senior citizens, as safety is the #1 priority. Every “granny pod” includes webcams for monitoring by family members, and there’s even a padded floor! The padded floor is great for the elderly’s joints and will also cushion them if they have an accidental fall.
In addition, each pod is equipped with small robotic features that can monitor vital signs. They also filter the air for contaminants and send alerts to the citizen to take supplements and/or prescribed pharmaceutical drugs.
Communication is easy in the granny pod with high-tech video and text cell technology available at the push of a button.
In the case of an emergency, each pod is installed with an alert system to notify caregivers help is required.
Three models are presently on the market, so there are plenty of options to pick from when securing the perfect new home for your aging relatives.
