Every August 1st, the city of Warsaw in Poland freezes for 1 minute to commemorate the Warsaw Uprising in 1944 (from 1939–1945 Poland was occupied by Germany) where about 200,000 lives were lost. Approximately 6 million Polish people lost their lives during World War II.
