Agency Creates Posters That Double As Nets To Save The Caribbean Eco-System

Not only do the posters share information about the Lionfish — such as toxicology, how to treat stings, where to find and catch them, they also transform into lightweight nets when pulled apart.

Did you know? In the Caribbean, the venomous Lionfish is being overfished. While this travesty has been reported on by various media outlets, the news rarely reaches fishermen, particularly those who travel light whilst at sea.

To educate fishermen about the need to preserve the environment and keep the Lionfish’s population under control, Geometry UK and Geometry Colombia partnered to create ‘Posters For Catching Fishermen.’ Not only do the posters share information about the Lionfish — such as toxicology, how to treat stings, where to find and catch them, they also transform into lightweight nets when pulled apart. Now, Colombian fishermen have access to educational materials and practical tools they might want to keep and use.

Geometry utilized Tyvek®, a tough sheet material comprising high-density polyethylene fibers, to ensure the poster is durable enough to double as a net. As DesignTaxi reports, “It offers an excellent printing surface with high opacity for poster form, is waterproof and recyclable, as well as tear, puncture, UV and chemical-resistant.”
