He Cut Up His Driver’s License And Social Security Card. The Reason Why Is Inspiring…

As soon as one is born, they are implanted into ‘the system’ of society by being tagged with a social security number which identifies them until death. Only after one has taken out thousands of dollars in student loans, signed up for multiple credit cards, opened a bank account, and is holding down a 9-5 day job to pay back what was purchased on credit do they usually awaken to the fact they are now trapped in a system of sorts that will chase them until they manage to pay off their debts – or die.

While this isn’t the case for everyone, of course, it has become the ‘norm’ for many in the U.S. and in other countries. The reality has become such because few have been taught an alternate course of action and/or have been indoctrinated to believe that they can successfully live beyond their means. Not only is living with excess detrimental for the environment, it can also adversely affect one’s mental and spiritual health. Understanding this, it kind of makes sense, then, why activist Rob Greenfield felt inspired to cut ties in the traditional sense with society.

Greenfield, who is best known for wearing the average amount of trash an American makes each day (for an entire month!) and his ‘Share My Way Home’ campaign, recently cut up his driver’s license, social security card, and closed remaining bank accounts to prove an important point.

As he wrote on Facebook, he wants to show that someone can be a valuable contribution to society, even if they don’t live within the present system. In the description of the video below, he wrote:

“Can a human being exist in 2017 without a drivers license, social security card, or bank account and yet be a valuable part of society? I’m out to prove that you can.”

He’s done what few would dare, and it’s definitely intriguing – if not absolutely inspiring.
