Dee Dee and Rod

When Dee Dee turned 24, she met Rod of Cut Off, Louisiana while he was still in high school. At that time, Rod was only 17 years old. After 6 months of dating, Dee Dee became pregnant. For Rod, the only choice he thought he had was to marry her.

Married for the wrong reasons

But shortly after Dee Dee gave birth to Gypsy in 1991, Rod realized that he married for the wrong reasons and decided to leave Dee Dee. He said that when he turned 18, he realized he wasn’t where he was supposed to be and that he wasn’t in love with her. Dee Dee tried to make Rod reconsider a few times, but he was determined to end the marriage. He moved on to re-marry and have a new family.
