98-Yo Mom Moves In With 80-Yo Son At Care Home Because ‘You Never Stop Being A Mum’

No greater bond exists than the bond between a mother and her child, and this latest story is evidence of this.

Awwww, get your tissues handy. Truly, no greater bond exists than the bond between a mother and her child. And, this latest story is evidence of this.

Recently, Ada Keating, 98, moved in with her eldest son Tom, 80, in Moss View care home in Liverpool, UK. The reason? To look after her eldest son. According to Liverpool Echo, the mom and son are “inseparable” and “love spending time together playing a game or watching Emmerdale.”

Reportedly, Tom never married and has always lived with his mom, so they share a very special relationship. Said Tom, “They’re very good here and I’m happy to see my mum more now she lives here. She’s very good at looking after me. Sometimes she’ll say ‘Behave yourself!’”

Ada said:

“I say goodnight to Tom in his room every night and I’ll go and say good morning to him. I’ll tell him I’m coming down for breakfast. When I go out to the hairdressers he’ll look for me to see when I’m coming back. When I get back he’ll come to me with his arms outstretched and give me a big hug. You never stop being a mum!”

Ada and her late husband, Harry, had four children. Tom has two sisters, Barbara and Margi. Before he retired, Tom worked as a painter and decorator at HE Simm building services, located on Prescot Road. He became a resident at Moss View in 2016 because he required more support. Now, just a year later, Ada has joined him.

Said Care Home Manager Philip Daniels:

“It’s very touching to see the close relationship both Tom and Ada share and we are so pleased we were able to accommodate both of their needs. It’s very rare to see mothers and their children together in the same care home and we certainly want to make their time together as special as possible.”

“They are inseparable,” he added.
