After obtaining a Bachelors degree in creative writing and English, this 94-year-old is now enrolled in a Master's program.
One is never too old to accomplish their dreams. An individual who recently proved this to be true is Amy Craton who, at 94 years of age, graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in creative writing and English. Not only did she receive her four-year diploma, she graduated with a 4.0 GPA!
Reportedly, Craton returned to school because she couldn’t see herself “just sitting around watching Netflix all day” as she aged. So, she returned to school and met her goal of receiving a Bachelors with timeless success.
Because the elderly student wasn’t able to attend the graduation ceremony of New England, the President of the school, Paul LeBlanc, flew to her home in Hawaii with a few staff members. They threw Craton a lovely surprise party and Inside Edition made sure to share the good news with the world.
Like many in her generation, Craton was unable to pursue higher education because of family matters. In 1964, she decided to raise her children full-time rather than attend college. When she realized she now has more than enough time to study, she chose to enroll in SNHU because it reminded her of her childhood growing up in the region. In an interview released by the school, Craton says:
“It feels good to graduate, to finish that part of my life, but I feel that I’m still on the road. I have much more to learn.”
A Bachelor’s degree just won’t cut it, which is why the inspiring woman is now enrolled in a master’s degree program with SNHU. She continues to study daily and turn in assignments on time. Watch the recap from Insider Edition below:
