Fort Knox is where the U.S. gold bullion reserve is stored, as well as other national treasures. One would need to bypass 30,000 soldiers, a tough security perimeter, and a stream attack of helicopters to get in.
Furthermore, there’s a 22-ton blast-proof door on the vault. ALL visitors are forbidden from entering.
#7 Svalbard Seed Vault, Arctic Svalbard Archipelago
Deep inside a mountain on a remote island in the Svalbard archipelago, halfway between mainland Norway and the North Pole, lies the Global Seed Vault. Even countries that lend seeds aren’t allowed to enter. On a positive note, if an environmental disaster ever occurs, there are plenty of seeds being kept safe to reforest the planet.
#8 Room 39, North Korea
First of all, one would have a heck of a time entering North Korea (legally) and returning to relay the tale. Secondly, the top-secret location of Room 39, found in the capital city of Pyongyang, is a secretive government facility that is believed to be the heart of numerous illegal operations, including drug smuggling and counterfeiting.
If you could visit Room 39, chances are you wouldn’t want to.
#9 The Lascaux Caves, France
17,300-year-old paintings made by early humans can be found in the the Lascaux Caves in France. Because they have been threatened by a series of mysterious fungal invasions, they are off-limits to the public and have been since 1963.
The images depict animals and geometric shapes, and can be viewed by online sources.
#10 North Sentinel Island, India
You are not allowed to visit this island off the coast of India, and you really don’t want to. The North Sentinel Island is completely isolated and is made up of a small tribe of approximately 50 to 400 natives. The Indian government has declared it off-limits.
Those who attempt to enter have a difficult time, as the locals have a strong desire to kill outsiders and will not withhold from shooting fire arrows and throwing rocks.
