After being rescued as a baby, ‘Pumpkin’ adopted her rescuers and brightens their lives on the daily with her humorous antics.
You never know what miracle will blossom from a planted seed of kindness. Or at least, you might suspect. But Rosie Kemp from Nassau, Bahamas likely had no idea how transformed her family would be by a raccoon they rescued last year when it fell out of a tree.
As The Dodo reports, the raccoon’s mother was nowhere to be found, so Kemp and her daughter, Laura Young, decided to adopt the little bandit and named her “Pumpkin.” Eventually, Pumpkin healed from her injuries and decided to moved in with the family.
““She instantly bonded with us and our two rescue dogs and follows me and our two dogs everywhere we go. She now thinks she is a dog… she is able to play and be rough with them and she respects them when they have had enough,” said Kemp.
You have to see the little munchkin to believe it. The photos captured of Pumpkin show just how humorous and adorable the raccoon is. Truly, love is found in the oddest – and most perfect – of places.
“Raising her was (and still is) a full-time job.”
“She now thinks she is a dog…”
“They are so unbelievably intelligent, very aware.”
“I would say they are even able to express emotions.”
Pumpkin now lives with Young, her husband, William, and their two rescue dogs, and appears to be incredibly happy. (She’s even learned how to use the human toilet!) Her adventures are chronicled on her Instagram account, where Young and her friends post photos of Pumpkin’s daily life.
