Driving in and around the Guatemala can be dangerous for many reasons. Firstly, driving patterns there are very unpredictable and very much unlike how it is in the US. Vehicular traffic in the cities and other towns in the country can be very chaotic for travelers who aren’t used to it.

If you feel that you really need to drive yourself around, make sure that you familiarize yourself with their laws (or lack of them) before attempting to get behind the wheel. Drive cautiously and defensively as most drivers in the country tend to be erratic while on the road.

In addition, road conditions in the Republic of Guatemala can be hazardous too, with most being perilously steep and littered with potholes.
