Wearing flashy jewelry and carrying expensive items such as the latest smartphones or designer bags might put you in the crosshairs of unsavory personalities. Tourist destinations will always have some element of crime present and tempting fate by putting your bling on display in public could raise the chances of you being victimized.

Always keep your cash on your person, particularly in the front pockets of your jeans or shirt. It is much easier for thieves to slice through your backpack to get to your valuables so make sure that you keep it secure by strapping it to your front where you can see it better.
