15-year-old Eric ‘Bean’ Mckay is so obsessed with peanut butter and jelly on english muffins, that he has it everyday, no fail, for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Because of his autism, Eric can be sensitive with the texture and taste of his food, and the most comforting to him is peanut butter and jelly, wherein he can finish a whole jar in a matter of just three days. When the grocery store chain Lidl had a sale, his mother bought 72 jars of peanut butter, and when they we’re running low on supply, Eric’s mom suggested that he tweet Lidl to ask when they would put their peanut butter on sale again. They grocery store chain then responded to him with a challenge that if he is able to get 72,000 retweets, they would give him a lifetime supply of peanut butter. And guess what, he succeeded!

After gaining a lifetime supply of his favourite food, Eric felt inspired to share his winnings and because his father has been furloughed with the longest government shutdown in history, Eric made a deal with Lidl that for any furloughed worker that goes to their branch in Dumfries, VA, they can receive up to three jars for free. With his father at his side, they gave away several jars last January 23 and they planned another peanut butter giveaway the next Saturday.

Eric posted a tweet on his account (@beanphilosopher) saying, “I’m giving away some of my peanut butter, and if you are furloughed like my dad you can have some. I hope my dad is working but he’ll be there if he’s still not.” After the first time they gave away some peanut butter, Eric told his mom, “Mom, that just felt so good.”

Can’t see no better way than to share your blessings with others!
