13-Yo Girl Triumphs Over Bullies By Facing Her Fear And Wearing A Swimsuit To The Beach

This young girl's post has gone viral, for her bravery has encouraged hundreds of thousands.

Nearly everyone feels self-conscious about their bodies. 13-year-old Paris Harvey is more concerned with hers than most, however. That’s because the Kent-based teenager is often bullied for her weight, which stems from a metabolic condition.

As The Daily Mail reports, Paris gains weight quickly and struggles to lose it. Additionally, she was born with hip dysplasia so her left leg is 1.5 cm shorter than her right. Two pins in her joints cause her to limp. When bullies at school see her, they cruelly say she looks and walks like a penguin.

“I got bullied in the past and after a while, you start to believe what people say. I became really insecure about how I looked,” said Paris. “I can be eating the same food as the next person but I gain weight. It’s not like I’m sitting at home all day eating crisps. But I felt like I shouldn’t have to explain myself.”

To be bullied at a young age is one of the worst psychological traumas one can endure. Fortunately, Paris is braver than most people and isn’t ready to submit to those who tease her. Not only did she strip down and enjoy the beach, she posted a picture to Twitter which went viral with over 337k likes!

Negative comments were received, of course, but Paris mostly chose to ignore them. And, a number of activists came to her aid, defending the courageous girl for focusing “on the support because hate is nothing compared to love.”

“I feel like we should embrace who we are,” Paris said. “I’m not making myself a model but I wanted to show people that it doesn’t matter what size you are – you are born into that body.”
